Evergreens Offer Many Varieties For Landscaping And Shade

great shade trees, windbreaks, and privacy screens

Evergreens generally refers to trees and shrubs that normally don't drop their foliage (needles) during winter. However, as these trees grow older some needles drop off but never all at once. The needles that are lost are replaced with new ones.

Evergreens come in many sizes from shrubs to large pine, fir and cedar trees. These beautiful trees bring a color to the barrenness of winter. They make good windbreaks and privacy screens.

All of these trees and shrubs can be planted in early spring except, of course, in the cold areas of the north. They can be planted in late August or early September in the colder areas. These trees and shrubs are best pruned in the late spring. They should be given a deep watering in the late fall.
